去る1月29日（土）、ICU高校オーケストラ部第１０回定期演奏会が行われました。
演奏会の場所は三鷹市芸術文化センター。
会場が学校ではなかったにもかかわらず、たくさんの方が足を運んでくれました。
二年生はこの日で引退でした。
演奏会の後、新たに副部長になった生徒が文章を寄せてくれました。

私たちオーケストラ部は通称「おけら」と呼ばれ慕われています。
まるで虫のような名前ですが案外みんな気に入っています（笑）
部員同士はとても仲がよく、毎日楽しく活動しています。
初心者だった子たちも今では見違えるほどメキメキと力をつけました。
今回の定期演奏会は32期生にとって最後の舞台でした。
改めて音楽の楽しさを教えて下さった先輩方には
本当に感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。
みんなで一つのものを作り出す喜び、「おけら」にしかできない音楽がそこにはある!
昨日、立春に合わせ、百人一首大会「蝉丸杯」を開催しました。
２年生の中から、今年は３人組５チームが出場し、勝ち残り戦としました。
今年も、初句が始まるとすぐに、はいっ！とあちらこちらから声が上がり、
シュッと札を飛ばす強者もいて、熱戦となりました。
「これやこの～（この大会名となっている蝉丸の歌）」が詠まれると、
「蝉丸ー！！」という歓声と拍手が起こり、一層盛り上がります。
見事決勝戦まで勝ち抜いて、蝉丸杯を手にしたのは理系として出場したチーム。
理系対文系の戦いとしては、理系の連覇となりました。
またやりたいね！と、楽しく終えました。
On Thursday 3rd February 2011, an audience of about 40 students and teachers gathered in the Lecture Room to watch six students compete in the Annual ICUHS 2nd Year Level 4 English Speech Contest. The contest began at 3:35 p.m. and ended at 5:00 p.m. The speeches each lasted about five minutes.
After the last speech, the three judges (two from the Foreign Languages Department and one from the Kokugo Department) retired to a separate room to make their decision. All were impressed by the variety of content across the six speeches and the communicative skills of the speakers.
The top three students were each awarded a specially engraved plaque. All six students received ICUHS folders and rotating pencils as participation prizes and will receive an official Speech Contest certificate later this term.
The organizer would like to thank the judges for doing such a difficult job, the Headmaster for presenting the prizes, and everyone else who assisted in bringing about this highly enjoyable event, especially the six students who participated.
本日、放課後に「卒業生を囲む会」を開催しました。昨年ICU高校を巣立った卒業生から、通訳、英語教師などで活躍されている社会人の方まで、１０名の卒業生がきてくださいました。ICU高校での生活の思い出、大学生活、仕事などお話いただきました。在校生からもたくさんの質問がでて、会は盛況のうちに終えることができました。ご参加いただいた卒業生のみなさん、在校生のみなさん、ありがとうございました。
最後に卒業生からいただいた言葉をいくつか紹介したいと思います。
「自分が本当にしたいことは何なのか考えることが大切！僕の場合、それはみんなが前向きに表現できる空間をつくることでした。」
「光陰矢の如し 高校生活はあっという間なので、振り返るチェックポイントをつくってください。」
「いろいろ伝えようと思って来たんですが、逆に若いエネルギーをもらって私が元気になっちゃいました。ICU生ってみんなすごい素質をもっているので自分はスペシャルな存在なんだ！ってことを忘れずに自分の思う道をつき進んでください！」
『ライティング・ワークショップ』は、３年生の自由研究講座。
「書くのが大好き」「よき書き手になりたい」という生徒たちが、
自らのテーマで自由に文章を書き、互いに読み合い、
それぞれの作品を完成させてゆく講座です。
一年間に書き綴った作品は、最後に、
それぞれの思い思いの表紙を作って一冊の本へ。
一生の思い出です。
今日は秋学期の終業式。
秋学期終業式は大学チャペルでクリスマス集会として行われます。
厳粛なお話と祈り、さらに生徒たちによるハレルヤコーラス。
午後からはクリスマス・キャンドルライト礼拝。
ろうそくの灯りをかこんで、心静かに祈りを捧げました。
夕方にはキャロリングです。讃美歌を歌いながらキャンパス内をまわりました。
その後武蔵境駅に移動し駅前と駅北口の商店街で讃美歌を歌い、
幼子イエスの誕生を讃美しました。
Ｍｅｒｒｙ Ｃｈｒｉｓｔｍａｓ ＆ Happy New Year ！
11月に行われた秋の校外学習、一年生は例年通り、日本の古都、鎌倉に遠足に行きました。それぞれの班でテーマを選んで観光し、生の狂言にも触れました。各班の最終ミッションは、写真作品を作ること。
クラスで代表作品が生徒たちによって選ばれ、教員の投票によって最優秀賞に輝いたのは、この作品でした。ちなみに、その選評は、地図をデザインしてストーリーが感じられる、テーマがわかりやすいといったものが寄せられました。
１１月２８日、一橋大学で開催された
「国立パワー・ジャズ２０１０」に参加しました。
お年寄りから子どもまで、一般のお客さんを前に約４０分間の演奏。
澄み切った秋空の下、ジャズ・スウィングをお客さんと一緒に楽しみました。
通称「メルパ」こと、「全国中学高等学校ダンスコンクール」
ダンス部員にとって「甲子園」のような大会に向け、今、最後の猛練習に励んでいる。昨年は女子ダンス部が準入賞６位、男子ダンス部が奨励賞と、メルパルクホールで行われるこの大会で、毎年輝かしい成績を残してきたＩＣＵ高校ダンス部。
月曜日の昼休みには本番に見立てた校内発表会を行い、体育館に集まった２００人近い生徒を魅了した。今年の女子ダンス部のテーマは異国のフォーク・アートな雰囲気漂う「Ｔｏｔｅｍ Ｐｏｌｅ」。男子ダンス部は、さわやかな『情熱大陸』の曲にのった「ＳＡＭＵＲＡＩ」。
部員はもちろん、引退した部員や卒業生、そしてコーチに顧問の先生まで心を一つに、今年も最高のパフォーマンスになりますように！
On Nov. 2nd, the 2nd year students went to see traditional Japanese comic art shows at Suzumoto Engei Hall in Ueno. The first performer was a man who did various tricks such as balancing a teapot on the end of a stick and escalating to balancing the pot on two knives held tip to tip on that stick. The second was a duo of stand-up comedians called Roketto-dan, who earned giggles and chuckles mimicking funny English. At the fourth performance of scissors art, one particular boy clenched his fist in triumph as he received the "panda" that he had requested. I want to point out the importance of imagination that the third artists - the pantomimists and the fifth and last rakugo artist Hayashiya Taihei emphasized. One of the pantomimists said that it was in our imagination that his art is completed while he showed us how a man was about to be airborne, pulled up by an invisible "balloon." Taihei also made our mouth water copiously when we "saw" this funny father licking up all the yammy goo on the dumplings served on a stick. The story ends with his poor boy exclaiming that this kind of selfish conduct of his father is exactly why HE did not want to bring his father to the fair.
Watching the shows, AND our students, I also cogitated on the concept of giving and receiving. Obviously, the artists were "giving" us first-rate entertainment that they achieved through their talents and years of hard work, but at the same time, I perceived that THEY were also receiving the JOY of performing, or LIVING, through the giggles, the bursts of laughters, the wide-opened amazed eyes, the sighs, and the clenched fist in triumph of our young, sensitive, and imaginative ladies and gentlemen. Art had united all those who were living through those moments of miracle.
